Is your business seen as a potential cyber risk?

You may be written off before you've even had a chance to pitch. Why? Because you're seen as a potential cyber security risk. Find out your weak points and plug the gaps.

According to a survey conducted by The World Economic Forum Centre for Cybersecurity, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are seen as a key threat to supply chains, partner networks and ecosystems.

In their research, 88% of respondents (120 cyber leaders who are senior-most executives from private and public sectors representing 20 countries) indicated that they are concerned about cyber resilience of SMEs in their ecosystem.

This means it’s going to get harder for SMEs to win contracts if they cannot demonstrate that they take their own cyber security seriously.

We are seeing evidence of this. New clients are coming to nTrust asking us to conduct an IT Audit to highlight potential weaknesses in their IT systems, processes and procedures.

Are you missing out on opportunities because you’re seen as a cyber risk?

If you supply products and services to larger organisations you could be missing out on the opportunity to pitch without even realising it.

That’s why we recommend obtaining Cyber Essentials certification as this is a standard that is increasingly being asked for. Not only will this strengthen and protect your own business from cyber attacks, it will also provide a competitive advantage when responding to tenders and presenting proposals.

And even if an assessment of your cyber security isn’t part of your prospective clients’ due diligence when choosing whether to engage you or not, you should be taking proactive steps to protect your own business from threat, downtime and loss.

Understanding where you have potential cyber vulnerabilities is a good starting point.

A cyber attack could come from a variety of areas within your business, such as your IT network, hardware, software or even your processes or employees.

Where are the weak points and how would you know?

We’ve created a quick quiz to help you find out which areas of your business are the most vulnerable and therefore most likely to be the reason for a cyber attack. Once completed you’ll get an immediate snapshot of where your attention is most urgently required.
