My day on the IT helpdesk is fascinating

One of the things that drew Bradley to nTrust was the longevity of the company and our values, values that resonated with his own.

We’re delighted to welcome Bradley Penfold to nTrust as he joins our growing IT helpdesk.

Prior to joining us, Bradley was as an Administrator, which he found repetitive and not at all exciting.

Now, he finds his days “much more fascinating” and enjoys that every day is different and he’s learning a lot.

It’s so important to have pride in what you do. Bradley says, “I now work in a career that I’m happy to talk about. Before, when people asked me what I did for a living, I wasn’t very enthusiastic, now I can’t wait to tell people what I do.”

If you were to ask Bradley how he choose his new career, he’d reply, “I had previous experience in the IT Industry whilst working for an IT Recruitment Company, so I was familiar with the industry. I knew there was potential to have a good career where I can learn a lot and earn a good salary.”

One of the things that drew Bradley to nTrust was the longevity of the company and our values, values that resonate with his own.

Bradley liked the idea that nTrust works with technology that he wanted to learn more about so we were an obvious match.

To help Bradley switch careers he started a traineeship and IT certifications including: CompTIA A+; CompTIA Network+; CompTIA Security+; ITIL Foundation; Cisco ICND1; Microsoft Windows 7 & Windows 10.

There are always previously learnt skills that are directly transferable to a new career. In Bradley’s case he’s familiar with an most capable in customer service and telephone communication.

Having spent an average commute time of three hours a day the fact that nTrust is an easy distance means more time to spend with family, friends and on hobbies.

Bradley has successfully changed careers, just like Dean Kellham and David Rowbottom who also joined the IT helpdesk this year.

To anyone looking to do the same Bradley’s advice is, “Don’t leave it too late! I think I should’ve done what I’m doing now years ago. Try and complete some training/work experience/certifications ahead of applying for new roles. Be proactive if you’ve applied for new role, don’t wait on them, chase them.”
